November Tips
Toadstools often appear on lawns at this time of the year. They generally do little damage but are best removed if small children are about.

November is the last chance to plant out winter bedding such as wallflowers, bellis dasies, forget-me-nots and winter flowering pansies.

Insulate greenhouses with bubble wrap polythene and check heaters and thermostats are working properly before they are needed.

Raise all patio containers onto pot feet to prevent them from water logging and top dress with new compost if required.

New hardy trees, shrubs, roses and climbing plants can be planted during mild spells.

Continue planting tulip bulbs until the end of the month, directly into the garden or in patio containers.

Prune established apples and pears (excluding cordons, espaliers, fans or pyramids). Remove any dead, dying and diseased branches.
